From 1 July 2025, new menopause and perimenopause health assessment items will commence on the MBS.

The new items will support general practitioners and prescribed medical practitioners to deliver targeted health assessment services to patients experiencing premature ovarian insufficiency, early menopause, perimenopause and menopause.

The items respond to recommendations from the Senate Community Affairs Reference Committee Report on Issues Related to Menopause and Perimenopause, released in September 2024. Information on the Committee and a copy of the full report can be found on the Parliament of Australia website.
