Heart health assessment items

This page provides information relating to Medicare Benefits Schedule items 699 and 177.

Heart health assessment items 699 and 177 will continue to be available until 30 June 2025 for GPs and other medical practitioners (other than a specialist or consultant physician) to provide patients aged 30 years and over with a cardiovascular risk assessment.

From 1 July 2023, First Nations patients may claim a heart health assessment and an MBS First Nations health assessment within a 12 month period, where clinically appropriate.
