The thresholds for both the original and extended Medicare safety nets increase from 1 January 2009.

• The original safety net increases to $383.90 (from $365.70).

The extended Medicare safety net increases to:

• $555.70 (from $529.30) for the lower threshold; and
• $1,111.60 (from $1,058.70) for the upper threshold.
