Below is a summary of changes that have occured to the MBS since November 2008.

Amendments to the Diagnostic Imaging Services Table
There are two new items (
63464 and 63467) which have been introduced for a MRI breast scan will be available to women under 50 at high risk of breast cancer and with no symptoms. Three items (
61462, 61484, and 61485) have been amended to better reflect Nuclear Medicine Adrenal Study.

Amendments to the Diagnostic Imaging Services Table
To date, the above PET items (as amended 1 December 2008) have been print suppressed and thus not available to view in the MBS. As these PET items can be accessed by all properly accredited PET facilities, by appropriately credentialed practitioners, they will be viewable on MBS online from 1 January 2009.
Amendments to the General Medical Services Table
Management of bulk-billed services item
(10992) - the description of this item was amended to include the Transitional Hours item numbers
(603 and 696) which were introduced on 1 November 2008.

Amendments to the Diagnostic Imaging Services Table
PET service items (
61541, 61544, 61553, 61556, 61565 and 61568), previously restricted to limited PET facilities, were approved to be listed on the MBS by Minister Roxon, and were available from 1 December 2008. Consultations with Nuclear Medicine Professionals resulted in the amendment of the item descriptors to better reflect current best practice.
